in conversation with Be & Abi
our womanhood ~ chapter II
As part of our latest campaign, we invited our community to take part in a shoot for womanhood. As with all our images, they remain untouched.
We had a chat with twins Be and Abi about what womanhood means to them and the journey they have each been on.
Abi:" I have become more and more in love with my body as I get older because it has carried two incredibly beautiful babies and got me through pretty grotty cancer. I look at the beautiful tapestry of scars and lines on my body, my cancer scar, my caesarean scar, my laughter lines, my tattoo and I love them all. They tell my story."
Be: "I don’t feel any different really to when I was in my 20s! I do think that the thing lots of women say is true, once you reach your 40s you become more comfortable with yourself and confident. I’m proud of who I am at 47 years old. I don’t feel like I’m an ‘in your face’ woman but I feel I’m a strong woman."
Abi: "I feel like I’ve gone from strength to strength. Becoming a Mum over 13 years ago and then a single Mum for the last 7, has given me the most incredible sense of confidence and pride. I know exactly who I am, what I want and I love showing my kids that the world is their oyster."
Be: "I had my ‘wild years’ when I was in my 20s. I travelled after university and worked two ski seasons, all of which I loved. I hope my boys travel and see the world. I had my fair share of boyfriends and made some mistakes which are a good process to go through. You live and learn! I’ve learnt along the way, what is important in a relationship and I think that’s why I ended up with a gem – my hubby!
I think spending my adult years apart from my sister has been good and has enabled me to be my own person and build my own life. Abi and I are very different and live very different lives."
One piece of advice both women would offer:
"Smile and dance and get into your body. We spend way too much of our lives in our heads, analysing, thinking and being fearful. If you feel into your body, the answer is always there. Go out there and grab as much JOY as you can and embrace every single opportunity that comes your way". - Abi
"Believe in yourself and do what you feel is right." - Be
Be is wearing the Slate set by Rossell England, with Abi wearing the Primrose set.
